Description
This creamy avocado grilled cheese sandwich is the perfect balance of crispy golden bread, gooey melted cheese, and buttery avocado. Quick, cozy, and utterly satisfying—it’s a snack or meal you’ll crave again and again.
Ingredients
2 slices of sturdy bread (sourdough, multigrain, or white)
1 ripe avocado (medium)
2–3 slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or pepper jack)
1–2 tablespoons butter (or mayo for crispier edges)
Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
Cut avocado in half, remove pit, scoop into a bowl, and mash until mostly smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice if desired.
Spread butter (or mayo) on one side of each bread slice.
Place one slice butter-side down in a skillet. Layer on cheese slices, then spread mashed avocado on top. Cap with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
Cook over medium-low heat for 3–4 minutes until bread is golden brown. Flip carefully, press lightly, and cook another 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted.
Slice and serve warm.
Notes
Swap cheese varieties for different flavors—cheddar for sharpness, gouda for creaminess, or pepper jack for heat.
Add extras like tomato, bacon, or herbs for a flavor boost.
Best served fresh, but leftovers can be reheated in a skillet or air fryer to restore crispiness.
